Homegrown Connections Movement envisions a world where LGBTQ+ people everywhere know their collective power and have the training and resources to harness to create the communities they desire through multi-issue and multi-cultural coalitions. We envision a world where everyone has access and opportunity to grow up healthy and liberated.

"I believe that if we can keep our values close, our imaginations open, and our stories fierce, we can and will win." - Thenmozhi Soundararajan

  • We use cultural organizing to unify communities around aligned values and dreams, through shared experiences and bringing our full selves to the work. Our differences are sources of strength and power.

  • The places we are from are not the problem; systematic neglect and abuse of our communities is the problem. We can take the power back and build our communities into what we dream them to be.

  • All of our stories matter and hold power. We are all teachers.

  • Strategic vision and planning are critical. They are the blueprints to our success.

  • We all have the power, intrinsically and collectively, to win the futures we desire. Organizers facilitate it by unveiling existing knowledge - using Popular Education - reflecting, guiding, and returning it to be used.

  • The sustainability of local communities requires inclusive democracy, co-governance, regenerative economy, reparations, and a Just Transition.

  • Solidarity, not charity. Our liberation is tied together.

SOLIDARITY NOT CHARITY

  • Our role is to supplement existing skills, resources, and education.

  • We only offer training and support where we are wanted.

  • We may start a conversation, but we require consent to move further.

  • We are not representative of the regions we are equipping.

  • We are not the experts on your local landscape, and will not speak on behalf of a local community on any issue. We know a lot and can be resources and support, but you know your community the best!

  • We participate in Mutual Aid, because we all need each other!
